Bhavna Sharma

Research Associate

    Bhavna Sharma is an advocate and a techno-legal policy professional with nearly seven years of work experience focusing on data privacy, cyberlaw, cybersecurity, and telecommunications. She has worked with various government and private organisations. Before joining CSEP, she was working as a Senior Legal Associate with PwC India in their Cyber Risk Advisory Team and played a cross-cutting role in handling projects related to legal and statutory compliances, conducting data privacy risk and impact assessments, legal advisory, policy formulations, and other related matters. She has also worked with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, and has been a part of the core team responsible for drafting the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, Digital India Bill, and Information Technology Rules, and has also handled litigations against the Ministry.

    Qualified with an LL.B. degree from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University, and an LL.M. from Jamia Milia Islamia, she has recently attained her Doctorate of Law from National Law University, Lucknow. She is CIPP/E qualified and ISO/IEC 27701: 2019 PIMS: LI Certified. She has also attained a certification with distinction in Public Policy from the London School of Economics.

    She is always passionate about exploratory research and innovative and thought-provoking deliverables. She has also authored various academic books and articles on varied legal subject matters in national and international publications and journals.

    At CSEP, she is working as a Research Associate in the Digital Economy Team.
