The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Research Fellow/Senior Fellow to work on questions related to Health Policy and Health Systems.  

The Health and Human Development vertical at CSEP focuses on  the systems, financing and policies that can advance the health of Indian citizens, with a specific focus on equity in healthcare access.

As part of the health work program, CSEP has recently initiated The Asian Collective for Health Systems, aimed at knowledge exchange on select health issues across countries in South and South East Asia. The collective is built with membership from existing networks in the region, institutions focused on health policy and development agencies. It focuses on primary healthcare, the intersection of climate change and health, and global/regional health governance.

CSEP is looking to hire an economist as Research Fellow/Senior Fellow with interest in health policies, to lead the work of the collective. We are looking for candidates who are interested in and have experience in primary healthcare, ideally with knowledge across the South and South East Asia region and who are able to forge partnerships. We expect the candidate to have a good understanding of institutions governing health, have research experience, and be able to work in partnership with other institutions in the region.

Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate would be expected to:

  • Conceptualise research studies on primary healthcare, health governance and related areas as relevant in the South and South East Asia region;
  • Support the implementation of  research, both quantitative and qualitative, across the region;
  • Build partnerships across the Asia region on specific policy areas, interacting with diverse stakeholders as part of research and deliberations;
  • Organise regional convenings with members of the collective;
  • Collaborate with team members in the design and execution of research projects; and
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and research findings to internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Requirements:

The research professional is expected to have:

  • PhD in economicsor associated areas from a globally recognised institute. S/he would ideally havea publications recordwith empirical and policy-oriented research.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex economic data.
  • A minimum of fifteen years’ experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to develop a strong network of diverse partners.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • A strong passion for policy research and a commitment to making a positive impact through evidence-based recommendations.
  • Be able to travel to countries in the Asian region.
