Vrinda Sarup
Vrinda Sarup, is a retired officer of the IAS with 23 years of experience in the Education Sector both in the Government of India and in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. In her long years with School Education in the Government of India, including as a former Secretary, School Education in the Ministry of Human Resource Development, she has worked closely in setting up three large national programmes like the District Primary Education Programme in the 90’s and later the path breaking Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which is still one of the worlds largest and most comprehensive elementary education programmes. She was also instrumental in redesigning a Vocational Education Programme in 2014, in keeping with the newer modern requirements of a young Indian population, seeking skills and employability. In her long career as a civil servant, Ms Sarup has specialised in the Social Sector and the sector of Finance. She retired as Secretary, Food & Public Distribution from the Government of India in December 2016, after tireless work on automation and reform in the public distribution system which covers the most vulnerable sections of society. Ms Sarup continues with her life long commitment to Education post retirement, in both advisory and active roles.
