The Centre for Social & Economic Progress (CSEP) has an internship opening for 10 to 16 weeks in the project Fiscal Marksmanship for Indian States under the Growth, Finance and development domain.
About the Project:
This project seeks to review how the Fiscal Marksmanship has been for Indian States for the period 2010-2018. Fiscal marksmanship broadly refers to the accuracy with which governments can forecast fiscal parameters. The existing literature and data indicates that presently, the fiscal marksmanship ratios across Indian States are rather poor. This ultimately has a negative impact on the quality of State expenditure. In this project, we seek to analyse deeply which components of revenue or expenditure is causing poor marksmanship ratios among the states, what is the major cause of such poor marksmanship ratios, and how, looking forward, they can be improved.
