‘Mining Matters’ is a part of the ‘In Dialogue’ series, hosted by the Non-Fuel Minerals and Mining research team led by Rajesh Chadha, Senior Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, New Delhi. We invite experts from India and abroad to discuss how India’s mining sector can catalyse economic growth and development, ensuring fair and sustainable mining practices for the environment and affected communities.

In the fifth episode of Mining Matters, “The Global Governance of Trade in Critical Minerals”, Rohinton Medhora, Professor of Practice at McGill University and Distinguished Fellow and former president at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) joins Purvaja Modak to discuss the global governance architecture for trade in critical minerals, how they are regulated in the multilateral, plurilateral and bilateral system and the issues associated with them and the role that forums like the G20 can play. They also evaluate existing initiatives like Indo Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and the US led Mineral Security Partnership (MSP) and discuss the scope for cooperation between regional groupings on critical minerals.
