Nita Kejrewal
Nita Kejrewal has worked as a senior civil servant with over three decades of experience in public policy, programme design, and institutional leadership across multiple ministries of the Government of India. Over the course of her career, she has contributed to the development and implementation of several large-scale national initiatives in public health and rural development.
She played an important role in the design, implementation, and monitoring of National Rural Livelihoods Mission during her 14-year association with the Ministry of Rural Development. Her work focused on strengthening community institutions, promoting women’s empowerment, and advancing participatory approaches to rural development across states and union territories.
Earlier in her career, she contributed to key public health programmes, including India’s Leprosy Elimination Programme and Tuberculosis Control Programme, and worked on the administration of important public health legislations such as the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. She retired from Government of India from the post of Secretary, Public Enterprises Selection Board.
She has extensive experience in policy formulation, multi-stakeholder engagement, community-driven development, and programme implementation support. She has worked closely with state governments, civil society organisations, and development partners across the country.
She has also been associated with Transform Rural India and serves on the Advisory Board of The Buddha Institute’s MahilaBiz initiative.
