Research Analyst/Associate – Public Finance, Fiscal Policy & Climate

CSEP is seeking a Research Analyst/Associate to work on public finance, fiscal policy, and climate issues. The role requires staying current on day-to-day fiscal policy developments while framing and conducting original research on emerging issues.

• Government budgets and fiscal data — national, sub-national, and local levels

Requirements

• Post-graduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
• Demonstrated interest in working with and interpreting government budgets and fiscal data across national, sub-national, and local levels
• Working knowledge of quantitative/data tools (Excel, Stata, R, or similar) for analysing fiscal and budgetary data
• Demonstrated interest in engaging policymakers, government officials, industry representatives, and other stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of research projects with limited supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex economic concepts clearly and concisely

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on fiscal governance, public and climate finance, and macro-fiscal policy
• Track and analyse developments in government budgets, public expenditure, fiscal institutions, and intergovernmental finance at all levels of government
• Identify research gaps, develop new research ideas, and carry them from conception to output
• Contribute to and lead research outputs — working papers, discussion papers, research reports, op-eds
• Engage government, industry, think tanks, and academics to inform research and build policy engagement
• Collaborate with team members on project design and execution, and support dissemination through seminars, workshops, and opinion pieces
