The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Fellow to work on climate finance and macroeconomic issues. As a Fellow, S/he must be well-versed in global and domestic macroeconomic and policy developments, as well as have the ability to frame and conduct research on topics of relevance in a fast-changing world.
CSEP provides unique opportunities to work with policymakers, senior and Distinguished Fellows at CSEP and researchers globally. We work with in-house, national and global experts, and regularly interact with stakeholders including industry and policymakers. The Fellow is required to conceptualise the long-term research agenda, conduct independent research, and build requisite team. Publication of the research work is expected and encouraged.

Requirements
- The research professional is expected to have a PhD in economics or associated areas from a reputed recognised institute within or outside India. They should have a good publications record with robust empirical and policy-oriented research. The candidate must have conducted research in a wide expanse of areas and demonstrated ability to work on macroeconomic topics and climate change/finance.
- At least 7 years of relevant professional research experience in any public or private sector policy/research organisation, including a think tank, bank, research organisation, and academia. India experience would be preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex economic data.
- Proven experience in conducting independent research projects, as evidenced by publications or research reports.
- Experience in modelling/econometric techniques and knowledge of statistical software such as Stata, E-Views, Python, R, etc, is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex economic concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to plan and conduct good quality studies with robust data analysis in a timely manner, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- A strong passion for policy research and a commitment to making a positive impact through evidence-based policy recommendations.
- Ability to build and lead the research team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research on various issues, including but not limited to macroeconomic topics such as economic growth, inflation, industry, agriculture, external sector, monetary and fiscal issues; climate finance; climate mitigation and adaptation; reforms of international financial institutions.
- Publish research output regularly and inform the policy debate with good-quality data and analysis.
- Collect and analyse economic data using appropriate methodologies and statistical tools to derive meaningful insights.
- Develop and implement research methodologies and frameworks to address research objectives and produce insightful reports.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to the design and execution of research projects.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of economics and climate change, and participate in discussions within and outside CSEP.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and research findings to internal experts and external audience.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals, research papers, and publications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and interns, as required.
- External dissemination of research through hosting seminars, writing opinion pieces, etc.
