Vivek Vats is a Research Analyst with the Energy, Natural Resources and Sustainability team at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP). He specialises in quantitative power systems modeling, mathematical optimisation, and the economic integration of flexible energy storage and renewable generation. Prior to CSEP, Vivek worked at ZEnMo Simulations in the Netherlands, developing digital twins and cost-optimal configurations for industrial energy hubs. In India, he previously worked with ANP GeoEnergy, conducting project finance and LCOE evaluations for baseload clean energy projects, and interned at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), analysing renewable transmission capacity planning.

He holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Technology from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Netherlands, focusing on renewable energy integration and power market microstructure, and a Bachelor of Technology in Power Engineering from the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), New Delhi.
