The event will feature a conversation between Sajjid Z. Chinoy, Head of Asia Economics and Chief India Economist, J.P. Morgan, and Part-time Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) and Laveesh Bhandari, President, CSEP.

Sajjid Z. Chinoy
Sajjid Z. Chinoy is Head of Asia Economics and Chief India Economist at J.P. Morgan, where he has been since 2010. He is currently also serving a third term on the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). He is a member of the Next Bretton Woods Group (NBWG) set up under the auspices of the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, D.C. He currently also serves on the Governing Council of CAFRAL, set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee to the Indian Army’s Group Insurance Fund (AGIF).
Sajjid has previously served on the Advisory Council to India’s 15th Finance Commission and was a member of the “Expert Committee to Revise and Strengthen the Monetary Policy Framework” set up by the RBI, which proposed inflation targeting in 2014. He has also previously served on other RBI committees, including Offshore Rupee Markets and Developing a Secondary Market for Corporate Loans. In 2016, he served as a consultant to India’s Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Review Committee, which proposed a new fiscal anchor for India.
Sajjid has been ranked as one of India’s Best Fixed Income Researchers by Asset Magazine for every year since 2013. He has co-edited a book, “India’s External, Financial and Fiscal Policies” with Anne O. Krueger, former First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. Sajjid has previously worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and McKinsey & Company and received his PhD from Stanford University in 2002.
